Overview of Koh Chang

Koh Chang is Thailand's second largest island after Phuket. A former backpacker haven, Koh Chang is one of 47 islands off the coast of Trat in the southeast of the country. In recent years it has become increasingly developed and the island and surrounding area now receive around 400,000 visitors a year. Much of the island is covered with undisturbed rainforest and there is an abundance of wildlife. The tree-covered mountainous terrain, cliffs, mangroves and a clear sea make Koh Chang one of Thailand’s most scenic islands and offers visitors an active and varied holiday.

The area is an ideal berthing area for fishing boats, with mountains and islands providing a good shelter from wind and storms in the monsoon season.
